Kelly Clarkson Addresses Controversy Over “Baby It’s Cold Outside”

As we previously told you, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend recently released a new version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” which replaces some of the song’s more controversial lyrics. The new version did not go over well with some folks, including Sharon Osbourne, and now Kelly has addressed the backlash.

In case you missed it, Legend’s wife Chrissy Tiegen was on Kelly’s show and the discussed the tune, with Kelly joking, “Did you not hear that John and I ruined Christmas recently?” adding, “I was like,’ How did I mess that up?’”

After Chrissy commented about Osbourne’s outrage, Kelly explained their reasoning behind the recording of the new version of the song.

“(John) had this idea, because of the #MeToo movement, they pulled ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ from any radio. Like, a lot of radio stations at Christmas,” she said. “Well, I love that song. We like the original, but we noticed that a lot of people didn’t. So we were like, ‘Let’s just give them another option.’ And apparently, we killed Christmas.”
