John Legend & Kelly Clarkson Release Their New “Baby It’s Cold Outside”
John Legend and Kelly Clarkson have recorded a new version of the holiday tune “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” changing some of the outdated lyrics, which were criticized for being date rape-y and just wrong in light of the whole #MeToo movement. Well, now the song is out.
Some of the new lyrics include:
“I really can’t stay (Baby it’s cold outside)”
“I’ve gotta go away (I can call you a ride)”
“This evening has been (So glad that you dropped in)”
“So very nice (Time spent with you is paradise)”
“My mother will start to worry (I’ll call a car and tell ’em to hurry).”
The new song is featured on Legend’s just-released deluxe edition of his holiday album, “A Legendary Christmas.”
- As for the reactions? Well, they aren’t exactly great. “This song is like a weird al parody sponsored by uber,” one person noted, while another added, “She sounds like the one night stand that won’t go away. I don’t think they thought this through.”
