Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers Perform On SNL With His Dad

Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers subbed in for Roddy Ricch on January 15’s SNL. They performed two songs from their 2021 album, “Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night.” Bleacher did poke fun at the irony of their album name when they announced their SNL gig on Instagram earlier in the week, writing, “The hardest attempt to date of taking the sadness out of Saturday night. bleachers are the first musical guest of 2022 on @nbcsnl !!”

For the indie pop band’s first performance, musicians Blu DeTiger and Claud joined Jack on stage for the high energy “How Dare You Want More. Jack brought the energy to the stage, bouncing all around it, while backed both by a lively horn section but also his dad, Rick, who was rocking out on an acoustic guitar.

For their second performance, Jack slowed things down. He performed his rendition of “Chinatown.” Bruce Springsteen is on the original recording, but he did not make an appearance on SNL.
