Coldplay Perform In “Ellen’s” Audience

Coldplay stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” yesterday, where they treated her audience to a very special performance. In fact, the audience was actually part of it.

The band played a stripped down version of “Cry Cry Cry” from their latest album “Everyday Life,” and sat in the show’s audience while doing so.

  • Meanwhile, you’d think having a rock star for a father would be a cool thing, but frontman Chris Martin admits that his daughter Apple is embarrassed by him. During the “Ellen” appearance, he shared that he recently embarrassed his daughter when he stopped by her job.

“It’s her first job and she’s about to be 16 and she’s making her way in the world and I’m so proud of her,” he said. “I didn’t tell her and I went to surprise her and I thought I better buy something…and she saw me and she went like this (mouthing) :Dad get out!”‘ He said he felt “terrible” but he has brought her some fudge  and asked someone to give it to her. He noted, “As I was leaving, she shouted, “I love you dad!”‘

  • ONE MORE THING! After Ellen showed the trailer for “A Quiet Place II,” Martin also revealed that after seeing the original movie he texted Emily Blunt and hubby John Krasinki with a wild idea. “When ‘A Quiet Place’ came out, I had an idea for a joke afterwards. So I sent Emily Blunt and her husband [John Krasinski] this idea for the musical of ‘A Quiet Place’ and it was just me like that,” with Chris prentending to play piano and mouthing the words. “They never replied!. So every time I see that trailer it makes me feel sick! So I thought they must have thought I was taking the Mickey… I genuinely loved the film!”
  • Krasinski later replied, “I… did not get an email from Chris Martin. The man is a world treasure. Are you kidding me!?!? Emily what have you done!?!?”
